Workplace

The work setting where the balance is going be used.

Readability

Smallest difference in mass that is displayed on the balance. For gold jewelry balances ct (Carat) is available.

Weighing Range for Sample plus Tara Vessel

The weighing range of the balance includes the sample and the tara vessel.

Adjustment/Calibration

To guarantee accurate results at all times, balances need to be calibrated and adjusted on a regular basis.

  • proFACT: time (with scheduler) and temperature controlled automatic adjustment
  • FACT: temperature-controlled automatic adjustment
  • Manual internal: manual adjustment with an internal weight
  • Manual external: manual adjustment with external weights

Applicable Regulations

Regulations your weighing process needs to comply with.

  • GxP: A generalization of quality guidelines, predominantly used in the pharmaceutical industry
  • USP: United States Pharmacopeia
  • IFS: International Food Standard, a European standard for retail food products
  • BRC: British Retail Consortium
  • ISO: International Organization for Standardization

Weighing Tolerance

The tolerance define how accurately you would like to weigh with the instrument. This tolerance should be on average 5 or 10 times lower than your weighing tolerance.

Minimum Weight

Weight of smallest sample you intend to weigh. At defined tolerance levels, decreasing sample sizes typically require balances with a higher repeatability.

Important: the minimum weight is dependent on the chosen regulation and weighing tolerance.

Data Documentation

Ways to document the results.

  • None
  • Value: Weight value
  • . Date Time: Weight value, date and time

Save money by choosing DeltaRange and DualRange Balances!

  • DeltaRange DR, balance with movable fine range over the entire weighing range
  • DualRange DU, balance with fixed fine range at the beginning of the weighing range

Connectivity

Possibilities to connect the balance to other applications, e.g. a printer.

Weighing Pan

Place where the weight sample and the tara vessel are placed.

Calibration Weights

Measuring equipment must be checked regularly, if the quality of the measurement results has changed during every-day use. The user should perform these checks at fixed time intervals.

Balances and scales are tested with two external weight pieces. These test weights must have a valid calibration certificate issued by an accredited calibration lab. The tests should be performed in fixed, regular intervals and the results should be documented in a traceable way.

METTLER TOLEDO has a complete offering of weights with calibration certificate (sometimes called "certified weights").

Installation/Calibration

Take away the guess work when you need to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.

METTLER TOLEDO offers options for fast and professional qualification for balances and moisture analyzer. No time wasted - a quick initial qualification allows you immediately start working with your product.

Software

Get the most from your balance, extend the capabilities of your balance with application software.

LabX balance increases your lab productivity, prevents mistakes and supports all your regulatory needs.

Printer

By using METTLER TOLEDO printers you eliminate the possibility of transmission errors. Recording data in laboratory or production journals by hand is time-consuming and a source of errors. These records verify the source of all data, so it can be reconstructed and filed away at any time, thereby eliminating errors. All records are printed on normal paper, making ISO and GLP/GMP regulations easier to meet in pharmaceutical and chemical processes, and in applications involving mandatory calibration.
